'People are fearful' - why 'powerhouse' Arsenal are the team to beat.

There's little doubt why Arsenal are now countless pundits' favorites to claim the Premier League during this term.

Consider their results against Newcastle and Crystal Palace compared to those same matches last season.

The Gunners have defeated all of them this time around, but dropped 10 points across those games as they faded in the title race previously.

Defensive Dominance

Arsenal's defensive strength is a primary factor why they are appearing strong to ultimately achieve their title ambition.

They stand first for shutouts (6), shots let in (3), attempts against (72), quality opportunities against (19) and expected goals against (5.3).

The center-back duo of Gabriel and William Saliba is potentially the strongest in the league, with Arsenal keeping a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Dominance

Their threat from set-pieces is widely recognized, but rival sides still don't know how to contain the Gunners from these chances.

They have notched 11 times from set-pieces in the league, two more than any other side, with 69% of their goals coming from these situations.

"Arsenal can excel in various aspects now. The whole team has a daunting aura. People are just fearful of them and it is great to see."

Title Credentials

What is particularly notable about Arsenal's beginning to the campaign is they have also played Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United at opposition grounds and Manchester City at home - and are still leading by four at the top.

While they maintain victories, their historic competitors face difficulties. This marks the first time at this stage of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The expectations was on head coach Mikel Arteta at the beginning, having allocated around £250m on eight summer acquisitions in pursuit of that elusive first title since 2004.

But the business has so far yielded results in style, with his side one of the most prolific attacks in the league and boasting the strongest defense, despite numerous injuries.

  • Shutouts in each of their last three Premier League games
  • Nearly 6.5 hours without conceding a goal
  • Only a trio of goals in 12 games across all competitions

Former players and experts have characterized Arteta's men as a "powerhouse, looking challenging to stop" with the whole club now operating with conviction and determination.
