Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard courts

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a ex- world number one, has had a torrid year, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in specific - caused him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately splitting with former trainer Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set victory over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's initial trophy since the Rome competition and first on a hard surface after March of that year.

The win also means he has secured 21 victories at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is particularly special," said tennis professional the champion.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his past six finals, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

His retrieving strategy and regular outbursts on the tennis court had caused some to wonder if his ability to perform at the elite level was concluded.

But the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform positively, supported by an improved service.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky opponent, securing four of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

Both players exchanged breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial professional victory, gained dominance to push for a final set.

Moutet rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a competitive final set before Medvedev broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, he secured victory with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman unable to handle a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
